About The Program

March 21 will be Cindy Orr from Orr Décor on antiquing furniture with a painting process.

May Meeting
I am excited to be able to have Mike Zinser who was a member years ago in the club and is a member of the state wood-turners assc., do our program for May. as part of the program Mike has extended a invitation to anyone interested, to go see the program he runs the weekend after our meeting. we would have to carpool up but I think it would be of great interest for folks to see his program in action. -- Jack Kincella

I need the help of the club membership. Any programs they would like to see for our meeting nights that they would like to see. Please get some ideas and info to me so I can follow up and get setup. If anyone would like to do a program they need to let me know as well.

Charity Information

We had a great response for our first auction support program for Motlow Foundation and Trinity Adult Day Care. The folks there are very excited to be partnered with us and will give us feedback when auctions are completed so we can gauge the response of those who won the items. The next auction will be for Partners in Healing that will come up at the end of August.

The current custodian is Pete Miller and he can be reached via e:mail at quackers1034@blomand.net. If you have any questions concerning the process of getting a CD please drop him an e:mail.

Carvers Corner

The above photo was taken at our last meeting and includes most of us carvers..and the eagle...and the fish.

The carvers are continuing to meet twice a month on the first and third Saturday's of the month from 8:30 am to 10:30 am at at Jim Jolliffe's shop, located at Jolliffe Acres Lane, Tullahoma, TN.

NAME TAG INFORMATION

If you are a recent new member or had requested a new name tag, a box of name tags will be available at the next meeting. In the future, name tags will be made for new members and available for pickup at the next regular monthly meeting. Name tags for other members will be made upon request only and will also be available for pickup at the next meeting. Please contact Chuck Taylor (931-728-7086 or email taylor_cw@charter.net) for information or name tags.

SHOW AND TELL

Tony Murphy – Slide presentation of bar he is in process of making. Top is made of sassafras and walnut with the rest being white oak.

Paul Jalbert – A tool box made of cherry for Vince Zaccardi. Stated challenge was making rope handle. Has printed instructions on how to do handle and available to anyone.

Ross Roepke – Brought table top made of walnut and chittawood for Motlow auction.

Alan Odell – Had a couple little houses carved from cottonwood bark for gifts.

Vince Zaccardi – Showed a couple of turning tools made of ground steel. He made handle and said not economical to make.

Loyd Ackerman – Brought a box with ABC blocks made with his CNC.

Chuck Taylor – Showed a music box made of maple with a cherry top. Also, a couple bowls of holly roughed out showing how much they can warp.

Noel Johnson – Had a natural edge bowl of hickory and a maple bowl.

Marvin Miller – Showed a round box with threads. Bottom of osage orange with design and top of cherry.

John Hartin – Showed a fairly large walnut bowl with lacquer finish. He had a piece which was part of the rim of bowl that broke off changing the value of the bowl.

Karen Browning – Had a bowl made of cherry with teak oil finish. Also, had a vase of cherry which she put a mirror and candle holder in.

Richard Gulley – Made nice sign “MY SHOP MY RULES” with different types of rulers.
Showed some Christmas ornaments, knobs made on CNC and a jar lid cover.

Greg Myers – Showed a pretty little box he made with a student.

Shop Tip

Welding magnet solves hose-holding problem
To hold a shop-vacuum hose on target on your drill press, simply attach a welding magnet (no. 1939, 800-423-2567, harborfreight.com) to the drill-press column. Then, secure the vac hose to it using a rubber-band retainer like the one shown.
