The April meeting will be at 7:00 pm on the 19th at the University of Tennessee Space institute, room H111.
Our April program will be presented by Ross Roepke.
Ross will share his box making skills with us and give us some of his
“labor saving” tips and techniques. Ross makes many boxes for family and
friends and donates to charity auctions in support of worthy causes.
Come and learn some of Ross’ time saving ideas.

Be sure to meet all of our new members and welcome them to the club.
The TVW club extends deepest sympathy to the family of
Kevin Deuermeyer. His funeral service was held on Saturday, April 6th. A
book on
Intarsia has been donated to the Tullahoma Public Library in his memory.
Kevin has been an active member since 2007 and was serving as club
president this year.
Start those projects you want to display in the
exhibition. The new date for the 2013 TVW Exhibition has been set.
The event will be held September 8 – 15. The location will be at the
University of the South, Sewanee, TN. Dan Maher is the Chairperson for
the event. He will be asking for help as the event date draws closer.
Please give him your support when he asks.
There will be additional information presented at the monthly meetings
concerning the upcoming event.
The carvers held their monthly “gathering” at Phil
Bishop’s shop on April 6th. They worked on individual projects and made
plans for the
Cornbread Festival on April 27-28. The Festival will be held in South
Pittsburg.
The carvers normally meet on the first Saturday of each month the Phil Bishop’s shop. They work on individual or group projects. Anyone interested in carving is welcome to attend these monthly meetings.
The next flute circle meeting is scheduled for
April 30th at 1 PM. The meeting location is Tom Cowan’s Artisan
Studio in Cowan.
The group meets on the last Tuesday of each month. Come and join the fun
and fellowship with the “Fluters”.

The Panoply demonstrations are scheduled for April 27-28. The event chairperson is Greg Myers and the demonstrations will be held in Huntsville, AL.
Additional information will be given at the April club meeting.

Bob Addington and Paul Fults brought the ends of two oak church pews which they had made. These were to be used when a long pew was cut into two small ones. |

created a small vase from wood cut by beavers and ask for
help in identifying the wood. |

Don Farr displayed a segmented vessel with intricate design created from 1800 pieces of different wood. |

Greg Myers showed ice cream scoops that he had turned handles to fit. He discussed the differences of the two; one he purchased from WoodTurners Supply and one from Rockler catalogs. |

Ross Roepke displayed a box he created from poplar molding cut-offs. He purchased an interesting board from BRC to use for the top. He was asking advice concerning how to finish his creation. |

Ever had the piece
you are cutting that final miter on “crawl” a little during the cut? It
doesn’t make for the “perfect” joint.
For parts with mitered ends,
such as picture-frame sides, use a stop-block with the complementary
angle. This provides a more positive “lock”
than a rectangular block. Apply
120-grit, self-adhesive sandpaper to the miter-gauge extension for
better grip on your work-pieces.
