The March program will be presented by Jim Warren of General Industrial Supply in Nashville. Jim will be telling us about all the changes and improvements that General Industrial Supply has been implementing. I am very proud of our web site and the value it is to our membership. I have recently become more dependent on the site for club information. It is the best and most efficient way to share information among our membership and to connect to the outside. I have heard many favorable comments from people outside our club who has benefitted.

I want to thank all who has contributed to the development and upkeep of our site and I encourage each member who has access to the internet to frequently use it. It will soon be redesigned in an effort to make it even better. I ask each of you to check our site at least prior to each meeting to learn about pending activities and events concerning the club.

The process of “putting a picture with a name” was started at the February meeting. The end result will be to link member photos to names on the “member List” residing on the website. This will allow you to click on a name in the ‘Member List’ and see a mug shot of the member.

New (and larger) member name tags were handed out at the last meeting. The purpose of these larger name tags is to allow you to read the name tags and learn your new club members. If you did not get a new name tag at the last meeting, please see Bob Addington. Hopefully, each member will bring and wear these new tags at our regular meetings.

The “Spring Seminar” date is fast approaching. It is scheduled for April 10. The Seminar content and location is in the planning stage and additional information will be announced at the next regular meeting. Paul Fults is the chairperson for this event.

The carvers met on March 6th at Phil Bishop's shop. Work was accomplished on various individual projects.

The Emerson Tool Co. Announced a recall of Craftsman® Radial Arm Saws sold by Sears, Roebuck and Co. The recalled Craftsman® 8-, 8¼-, 9- and 10-inch radial arm saws have a model number beginning with 113, usually located on the base of the saw. The saws were sold from 1958 through 1995. If you are interested in knowing more about sharpening techniques, especially turning gouges, this is one of your great opportunities. Bob Reese will give you one-on-one training. Jim Van Cleave asked that members support the Literacy Council of Coffee County in their fund raising efforts with donations of our wood art for their auction. The Literary Council is active in promoting and supporting literacy in middle Tennessee. They pay tuition and provide instruction for the many residents of our area in need of a GED to improve their lot in life. Contact Jim for any additional information.

A new lumber supply source has surfaced in McMinnville. The Burroughs-Ross-Colville Company is located at 301 Depot Street in McMinnville. They now stock the normal supply of lumber and you are welcome to “come in and browse” for that special piece of lumber needed for the next project. The phone number is 931-473-2111. A tour of the facility is being planed for the near future.

We have a great library of information. Our digital library just keeps growing. Thanks to Henry Davis for being the “caretaker” of this information.

Henry has made 16 additions to the library. These are now available for check out. Be sure and take advantage of all the vast amount of material available. If you have woodworking related VHS tapes or DVDs that you no longer want, consider donating them to the Club.
Henry reminds you that, if you have tapes or DVDs checked out to make every effort to return them, so other club members can enjoy them.

Vic Zaccardi showed three cherry bowls and a cutting board made from maple and walnut.

Loyd Ackerman displayed a dogwood flower and a shell carving.

Wayne Ison discussed a wood propeller which he carved over 40 years ago along with a board of pictures of other projects he built over the years.

Jim Van Cleave displayed a jewelry box made of cherry and walnut with L corners.

Bob Addington discussed a small maple table and a wooden bar clamp.

Ron Reimers brought a table he made using walnut and maple, finished with three coats of wipe-on poly.

This is an interesting web site for all you "do-it-yourselfers". The site has nothing to do with woodworking, but can tell you a lot about trouble-shooting and repairing your appliances. The main feature is the "Ask the Repair Guru" section. If you have a repair problem, click here to find the answer to your problem.

An inexperienced woodworker put a new blade on the chop saw, but something was strange. No matter how hard he tried, it would fail to cut. A co-worker applied brute force, but it would only fail for him, too.

Soon, several woodworkers were huddled in a cluster discussing “saw blade” mystery. Reluctantly, they went to seek the advice of an experienced woodworker and explained that the saw with the new blade would not cut.

The experienced woodworker thought for a minute and then gave them some sound advice. He suggested that they "turn it around".

They came back to the workshop and pushed the chop saw all the way around, but it still wouldn't cut butter.
