 TVW NEWS AND NOTES

    TURNING BEE

The “Turning Bee” was held on June 20th at Tom Cowan’s shop, with about 25 eager “wood turners” in attendance. The workshop was well planned and everything was taken care of, thanks to Paul Fulks, workshop chairman.
The complete process of “getting a bowl blank” from the log to the details of the “rough turning” techniques were discussed and demonstrated. Everyone came away with at least one roughed bowl. This is one of the most popular workshops hosted by the club. A big thanks to all the “expert instructors” for their help, to Tom Cowan for hosting the event and to Paul Fulks for chairing the activity.

To view all the interesting "Turning Bee", go to the "gallery", click on "2009-06-20 Turning Bee" folder and see how it went.

FALL SEMINAR
(MARK YOUR CALENDAR)

The Fall Seminar date has been set and the presenter has been secured. The date is Saturday October 24 and will be held at the shop of Matt Brothers. The presenter is Ronnie Young. Ronnie will be covering all phases of “table construction”. He will discuss the steps required to complete a table including, planning, lumber selection, grain consideration, lumber preparation, joinery, turnings, possible inlays and finishing.

You will get to see the actual parts fabricated as they are discussed.

The seminar will be limited to the first 40 that register for the seminar. The cost is $45 (pre-registration) and $50 (day of the seminar).
Mark your calendars and plan to attend. Additional information will be shared at the monthly meeting.

"DO IT YOURSELF" HELP SITE

This is an interesting web site for all you "do-it-yourselfers". The site has nothing to do with woodworking, but can tell you a lot about trouble-shooting and repairing your appliances. The main feature is the "Ask the Repair Guru" section. If you have a repair problem, click here to find the answer to your problem.

WOODWORKER'S HUMOR
